September 2024 update: thanks to a generous anonymous backer, this deck IS going ahead – they’ll make up the funds needed to print this should I need them, which by the rate this is selling I don’t think I will. so please reserve your deck with certainty – still aiming (fingers crossed) to get this into people’s hands for Yule!
August 2024 update: it looks like (fingers crossed) that I will have this deck finished by the end of October and gods willing into people’s hands by Yule. More updates to come!
September 2023: I have a linoprint-designed tarot deck that has been in the making for over two years which many people have said they would like to buy when it’s done, and I very much want to focus on it and get it finished. So in order to give myself a kick up the arse I’m offering it as a sort of preorder/kickstarter. Here are some of the cards created so far:
The Kickstarter website is great but campaigns only last 2 months, and I anticipate that it will take about a year (or a little more) to finish designing, linocutting, handprinting and scanning this deck, and then to get the cards professionally litho printed. & also, making a big campaign like that looks pretty stressful. I have yet to finish all the cards and I’ll need to raise quite a bit of money to get the deck printed by a reputable eco-friendly company in the UK.
Like, thousands of pounds.
And, like a lot of autistic queers, I don’t have that sort of money spare.
So I’m offering to you, dear human, the chance to preorder my deck, working title Queer Crow Death Magic Tarot!
Paying for a deck now will help me pay for the printing, give me an idea of how many to print, and hopefully, if there’s extra, pay me something for the work of creating it.
Like Kickstarter, there are different options, and extra things you can order if you wish, that will help me get this deck printed.
And if you change your mind at any point, up until the time I’m posting the decks out, just ask, & I’ll refund your money. The one thing I might not be able to refund is credit card or paypal fees, which are likely to be about 2-3% of the total amount you’ve paid me. So please bear that in mind when you order.
& if I don’t raise enough money to print these, again, I’ll refund your money in full. (sept 24 edit: there is enough money, woo-hoo!)
PS: the thermometer to the right is not automatic – it gets updated manually whenever I get the chance!
Details of the cards
- The cards will take the format similar to the Rider Waite Smith deck, that is, 22 major arcana with commonly-used traditional names (ie, I might use “magus” or “magician” for card I of the major arcana, but I won’t use “magic person”), 4 suits of cups, wands, swords and pentacles, each with a page, knight, queen and king. So 78 cards in total. Although the names are traditional I reserve the right to queer the images up a bit. The images are mostly channelled so I have no idea how it will look when finished!
- The cards will likely be 130 x 90mm, or very close to that.
- The deck you receive will be professionally lithoprinted rather than hand-lino-printed.
- They have been quoted to be printed on Fedrigoni Splendorgel Extra White 400gsm, a top-quality thick board that is totally chlorine and heavy metal free, and FSC certified. They’ll have a matt laminate for longevity, rounded corners for ease of use and will come packed in a rigid cardbox made from 79% recycled materials and hand-stamped by me.
- I will sign and number every box up to the one-thousandth one, after that not!
- I am aiming to get the cards out to people by Yule 2024, but if that changes I will let everyone know ASAP.
- Price includes UK insured, tracked postage; shipping internationally to be confirmed.

Customers in the EU
Shortly before the deck is to be sent out I’ll be implementing a plugin called Taxamo, that will calculate VAT for your country in advance and you can pay it upfront when ordering your card, so that you don’t get any nasty surprises – VAT & extra charges – when the deck goes through customs. I have to do this just before sending the decks because the system doesn’t work with a delay between ordering and shipping. If you sign up to my newsletter I’ll send out a notice when Taxamo is up and running so you can preorder your deck then. You are of course free to pre-order it now, to get the cheaper early bird price, but you’ll probably save more money in the long run holding back. Up to you!
