I have a two-week residency in the gorgeous underground cavern that is @shiftcardiff from 11-21 April, culminating in a 3-day exhibition in the space from 22nd-24th April.
The exhibition opening will be from 6-9pm on Friday 22nd April & there’ll be drinks & snacks. come!
If you can’t make the opening, the exhibition will be available to see on the Saturday and Sunday from 12-6pm.
The exhibition, QUEER CROW DEATH MAGIC (it does what it says on the tin, yes?) will show the work I’ve created at the residency plus some older works too.
I’ll be using old, reused, rejected and repurposed surfaces to smear oils and stick newspaper cuttings and draw crows. Incredibly excited to be spending two weeks in deep immersion & seeing what emerges. I’m planning a few events to go alongside this – TBC.
Here’s the artist bio:
“Frank Duffy (they/them) works through collage, oil paints, linoprinting, newspaper clippings and sparkly stickers to explore the strange and shifting space between binaries. Frustrated with the structural straitjacket of heteronormativity, particularly vicious media transphobia, Frank drafts an army of crows aimed at bringing chaos to order, expanding that gap between this-and-that, determined that they, and all the other queerdos, will have room to breathe.”
More information about events during the residency will appear here as they are announced!
